Check out this old-school Alaskan Trawler brochure. Ahh, the good old days.
A special thanks to Xavier Mercado of Grand Yachts, Spain who provided this brochure to me.
My poor Spanish Translation is below –
Graceful style of the original 49 Alaskan, it is a ship of diesel engines weighing 29 tons that can sail anywhere on the high seas. She is designed to cruise without preoccupations, with comfort and diversion, living surrounded by artisans of the old world and wood of golden Burmese teak.
The naval engineer Robert S. Dorris has created a masterpiece with the Alaskan 49; a ship of elegant motor, of good taste and such commodities that it constitutes a robust yacht of height and satisfies your growing and pressing needs of security and operation.
The 49 Alaskan can sail by cuaiquier (?) sea with her two diesel engines of safe operation, with a range greater than 1,600 miles and with a reliability in its project and construction, – that allows her V shaped hull, to expand and to enjoy the sea. Her lines show to a front entrance with a fast flow below the abrupt edge of the bow, combined with a deep stem, – a long keel, a beam of 15′ 2″ and a displacement of 57.000 pounds, cause that it is a beautiful ship in the sea, at anchorage or dock berth.
