Cruising and living on the St. Johns river presents a problem many of us tend to ignore; the odor and look of river water in the bowel of the toilet. Stephanie made the request a year ago that she wanted the ability to flush the toilets (heads) with both outside water (when cruising in blue water) and fresh water when on rivers.

The primary bilge pump under the flooring in the main berth has been replaced with a Rule 3700 pump. While the flooring was out I finally ran 12 VDC wiring to the SalonMate ozone generator in the bilge. The difference that having this device running full time with regards to interior odor is remarkable.

There are two commonly available inexpensive materials that will kill rot in wood and prevent its recurrence. First, there are borates (borax-boric acid mixtures) which have an established record in preventing rot in new wood and in killing rot organisms and wood-destroying insects in infested wood.
